Numa Frequently Asked Questions

Boat Specs

Numa is a 46’ luxury Leopard catamaran. In addition to the owners suite, she has two separate guest cabins & heads (bathrooms), undercover cockpit seating, a plush indoor salon with a full kitchen & a large trampoline up front. For a large cat, she is agile and quick in light breezes & yet stable enough to keep charging & not get uncomfortable in higher winds.

Meeting location & transfers to boat

Once you book your trip, we will provide you with a centrally located place to meet. Weather, wind direction & time of year sometimes require us to modify our routes & locations but we promise to give you plenty of notice prior to departure. Typically pick ups are at vistors center dock at Cruz Bay, St. John or along the waterfront across from the The Green House restaurant in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.  We may also begin your adventure with a short distance shuttle on our 12’ tender, Zuma if we are unable to tie up with our big boat. Please note that our tender is stable but it does require some degree of coordination to onboard & off board. If you are hesitant or concerned about your ability to transfer, please let us know so we can discuss potential options before you book.

Weather & cancellations

In most cases, we do not cancel for rain. Showers are not uncommon but most of the time they pass quickly. We have plenty of indoor space & outside cover, so you and your belongings can stay dry. In the event of a more serious weather event or other safety concern, we will make the call to cancel the trip by 7 am the day of the reservation. If we find it necessary to cancel a trip, we will make every effort to reschedule at a convenient time. If that is not possible, you will have the option of a full refund.  If you are unable to make a trip or cancel for your own reasons 14 or more days prior to trip, we will refund your money subject to a $250 cancellation fee.  If you cancel within 14 days, we will attempt to rebook the trip with another party in order to offer you a refund, but if unable to do so, we  unfortunately do not offer refunds at that point.

What should we bring?

Our goal is to make the trip as turnkey and enjoyable as possible so we’ll provide food, non alcoholic drinks, beer, wine, craft cocktails, snorkel gear, life jackets, paddle boards & water toys.

* please note smoking is not allowed on board.

If you have specific food preferences or aversions, please let us know when you book your trip, we will do our best to adjust our menu.

We only ask that you bring your own beach towel & sunscreen in lotion form (aerosol stains our fiberglass) & cash if you wish to tip (amount entirely at your discretion 20% is standard.) Our boat is quite stable & we’ll do our best to stay out of choppy waters. Most passengers do just fine but if you are especially prone to motion sickness you may want to consider anti nausea medication if winds are predicted to be high (feel free to contact us if you have concerns or questions about this). Passports are not necessary for sailing within the USVI.

Customized Trip offerings?

We plan on expanding offerings in the near future and are happy to consider your ideas.  Please feel free to call or email us to discuss customized day or term trips and quotes.

Term Charters

Thank you for your interest in a long-term charter. Based on our past experiences, we have found that shorter 2-night, 3-day charters offer the perfect opportunity to create lasting memories without stretching the comfort levels of most families. Therefore, we have chosen not to offer longer duration trips. In our experience, families who join us for a shorter time frame have a better overall experience than those who stay for longer periods. Many families opt to immerse themselves in our boat life experience and then take a few days on land to absorb and reflect before heading home
